As artifacts the original Polaroids are powerful and tell a compelling story, however, they have some inherent problems. They are often dark which masks some of the interesting details and there are significant color distortions. Additionally, they were not kept in archival conditions and suffer from dust, scratches and sometimes abundant cracking in the emulsion. When enlarging the digital files, these problems become magnified.
